For three innings Friday evening, it looked like the University Heights Academy Lady Blazers were headed towards their first win of the season. The Lady Blazers were up 5-2 over Christian Fellowship and had all the momentum flowing in their direction. Turns out momentum is quite the fickle thing.
The Lady Eagles scored 15 runs over the next three innings and blanked the Lady Blazers over the same time frame, as Christian Fellowship took a 17-5 win in six innings. CFS set down the last 11 UHA batters in a row.
The game started promisingly for the Lady Blazers. After CFS plated two runs in the first inning, UHA responded with four runs in the bottom half of the inning. The big hits in the inning were doubles from Mallory Ladd and Trinity Luke as UHA took a 4-2 lead.
The Lady Blazers extended the lead to 5-2 in the bottom of the third, this time it was an RBI double from Emily Dilday and it looked as if the Lady Blazers were on their way.
Then the wheels came off, and the Lady Eagles came roaring back to claim the momentum and the game.
UHA falls to 0-5 with the loss. The Lady Blazers will travel across town Monday evening to take on the Hopkinsville Lady Tigers.
