A week after the Lyon County Lady Lyons dropped a tough one-run decision to the Crittenden County Lady Rockets in the semifinals of the 2nd Region All A Classic softball tournament, the Lady Lyons got a measure of revenge Tuesday evening in Marion. The Lady Lyons built an 11-0 lead and then held on to take a 11-7 win on the Lady Rockets home field.

The Lady Lyon offense was in high gear, ripping of 16 hits in the game.

Lyon County took the early 1-0 lead when Brenna Breitrick doubled to score Destiny Cayce in the top of the second inning.

The lead grew to 5-0 in the top of the third. Lilly Perry drove in two runs with a fielder’s choice to make it 3-0. Later in the inning, Destiny Cayce doubled to drive in Audrey Akridge and Jenna Coursey.

The Lady Lyons exploded for six runs in the top of the fifth inning. The big hits were a three-run double from Piper Cotham and an RBI double from Destiny Cayce, as Lyon County blew the lead out to 11-0. But the Lady Rockets would not go quite that easy.

The Lady Rockets strung together three hits in a row to open the bottom of the fifth to score a pair of runs and keep the game alive at 11-2. Crittenden would add three more runs in the bottom of the sixth to cut the lead to 11-5. The Lady Rockets scored on an RBI single from Taylor Guess and a two-run error for the Lady Lyons.

Things got even tighter as the bottom of the seventh got rolling. A Lyon County error and a double from Elle McDaniel cut the Lady Lyon lead to 11-6. Hannah Jent then connected for an RBI single to trim the lead further at 11-7.

But that would be the end of the comeback. Destiny Cayce, pitching in relief, got two strikeouts and a pop up to end the rally and give the Lady Lyons the win.

Piper Cotham and Destiny Cayce came up big for the Lady Lyons. Cotham was 3-4 with a double, three RBIs, and a run scored. Cayce finished the game 3-4 with three doubles, three RBIs, and two runs scored. Courtney Collins was 3-4 with a run scored.

Lilly Perry got the win in the circle, going six innings, giving up five runs, only three of them earned, striking out four and walking four.

Destiny Cayce pitched the final inning, giving up one earned run on two hits, striking out two and walking one.

Lyon County improves to 3-6, while Crittenden County falls to 8-8.
