National Writer Believes Oscar Tshiebwe and Aaron Bradshaw Could Play Together

If Oscar Tshiebwe does return to Kentucky — and I am  not sure anyone really knows if he will or will not — could he play effectively with incoming freshman standout Aaron Bradshaw?

That’s the question I posed to Yahoo/Rivals college basketball writer Krysten Peek, who has Bradshaw listed No. 16 in her early 2024 mock NBA Draft. That’s just outside the lottery which shows how highly the writer thinks of Bradshaw’s potential.

She believes there is a way Kentucky could succeed with both Tshiebwe and Bradshaw on the court together.

“Bradshaw is more of a versatile big. Oscar’s last two seasons, he has been dominant in the post,” Peek said. “I think you can swing Aaron to high low and not have any real problems.

“He can step out and shoot and then you will have Oscar waiting for rebounds.”

Even though Bradshaw hit just eight 3-pointers in his high school career, Peek saw enough from Bradshaw at the recent McDonald’s All-American Game to believe he will be able to “open spacing” on the court.

“He is a little longer than (Jacob) Toppin,” Peek said. “You saw with Duke last season that it had two 7-footers on the floor and would make opposing teams guess who would be inside and out.

“I do not think it will  hurt Aaron playing with Oscar at all. Aaron wants to play on the perimeter, so that will not bother him. So, yes, I think the two of them could play together next season if Oscar does come back.”

  1. If Oscar comes back, he will want to play the 4 spot and Bradshaw does not want to play the 5. With Onyenso supposedly coming back, he will want starters minutes at the 5. Oscar knows this and knows the pros have told him he needs to develop a power forward game. If Oscar does not stay in the draft, he should transfer to another school where he will be allowed to play the 4 spot or go to the G League for a year. I would love to see Oscar play another year, but not if it is going to hurt his chances of making it in the NBA. Calipari used Oscar this year, played him before he was ready from the knee surgery, made him play the 5 instead of the 4 position, and then blamed him for the mediocre season we had. Kentucky becoming non-relevant in college basketball is all on Calipari. I wish he would leave for a NBA job, go to another school, or just go. All of the Calipari lovers are crowing about how good we are going to be next year, but it will be another season just like this one. I think Kenny Payne will get Louisville turned around in a couple of years which will leave Kentucky to become the next Indiana.

    1. Calipari never blamed Oscar for anything. The only guy on the team that brought it every night even when he wasn’t 100%. Calipari didn’t make Oscar play too soon after his surgery. They have doctors that determine when a player is ready. The player also has a say. Calipari haters make up lies and try to get people to believe them. Anyone wanting the first consensus two time All American at Kentucky in almost forty years to go to another team, is not a Cats fan. Ky has too many players in the NBA to use Oscar’s chances as an excuse. It’s hilarious you’re worried about the dirty birds.

    1. I hope Oscar goes to the NBA cause I think the guy from Michigan will help Kentucky win the championship and with Oscar, yeah hes tough but he still bring the ball down and opposing players simply RIP the ball from him. I’ve bitched about him doing that all year and remember the game last season between Michigan and Kentucky the Michigan center simply out done Oscar

  2. Regardless of what national writers think, and most of it is logical, we UK fans know who coaches the team!🤦‍♂️

  3. Love or hate coach Cal, he produces NBA talent, that likes going through Lexington for a year or two of “finishing school” The UK fans would like more titles, but realize the environment.

    1. Those players would be NBA stars if they never came to UK!! Truth is known they would probably be better in the NBA than spending a year with Jokapari!

  5. Add Damion Collins to the transfer portal. He had a hard year and I hope he finds more PT at another school.
