For six innings, the Todd County Central Lady Rebels had the Franklin-Simpson Lady Wildcats right where they wanted them in a big 13th District softball battle in Elkton. The Lady Rebels were up 5-1 headed into the final inning and had been rolling along. If it just had not been for that pesky seventh inning.

Franklin-Simpson rallied for five runs in the top of the seventh and then turned back a big threat from the Lady Rebels in the bottom half of the inning to take a 6-5, completing a regular season sweep. Franklin-Simpson used four hits, two walks, and a sac fly to complete their late-game rally.

The Lady Rebels would threaten in the bottom of the seventh, putting the tying and winning runs on first and second with just one out. However, Lady Wildcat pitcher Rebecca Luttrell was able to get both Karli Herrera and Abby McPherson to pop out to the catcher to end the threat and the game.

The Lady Rebels came out ready to roll, scoring on an error and an RBI single from Abby McPherson in the bottom of the first to take a 2-0 lead.

After Franklin-Simpson cut the lead to 2-1 in the top of the fourth, the Lady Rebels got the run back in the bottom of the inning when Addison Woodall left the park with a solo shot to left. Todd Central extended the lead to 5-1 in the bottom of the fifth as Abby McPherson hit a two-run, two-out blast to left.

Abby McPherson finished 2-4 at the plate with a home run, three RBIs, and a run scored. Karli Herrera was 2-4 with a double and two runs scored.

In the circle, McPherson went all seven innings, giving up six runs on seven hits, striking out ten and walking two.

The Lady Rebels drop to 13-11 over and get back to 13th District play Tuesday when the host Russellville.
