Caldwell’s Girls Drop District Date at Madisonville 9-1

Caldwell County’s girls fell behind early and dropped a 9-1 decision at Madisonville-North Hopkins in 7th District softball action on Tuesday.

The Lady Maroons (17-3 overall, 3-0 district), ranked No. 7 in the state this week, scored four runs in the first inning on the way to beat Caldwell for the second time this season.

Brenna Sherman homered twice for Madisonville and finished the day 3-for-3 at the plate with four RBIs and four runs scored.

Mackenzie Stoltz was 3-for-4 and also tossed a complete-game five-hitter for the Lady Maroons. She allowed one earned run while striking out eight and walking three.

Adley Lewis homered in the top of the third inning for Caldwell’s only run. Lewis was the only Lady Tiger with more than one base hit, going 2-for-3.

Caldwell is now 11-9 and 3-2.

The Lady Tigers are scheduled to play at Christian County on Thursday.
