Caldwell County junior right-hander Cole Slone no-hit Hopkins County Central over five innings as the Tigers captured a 10-0 7th District victory Friday in Princeton.

Caldwell (14-8 overall, 3-1 district) scored four runs in each of the fourth and fifth innings to finish off the win.

A double off the fence in left field by Brady Holeman plated the game’s final two runs as the Tigers reached the 10-run mercy rule in the contest.

Holeman finished the day 3-for-4 at the plate with three runs batted in to lead Caldwell’s eight-hit attack. Ari Wells had a double and two RBIs. Luke Parker also doubled while Hunter Newsom, Jamus Carneyhan and Collin Whittington each singled.

Caldwell scored two runs in the bottom of the first inning before putting up the big innings later.

Meanwhile, only two Hopkins Central hitters reached base against Slone, who is now 3-1.

Slone issued a two-out walk in the first inning but then retired the next nine batters he faced.

An error with two outs in the bottom of the fourth put another runner on base, but Slone struck out three of the last four batters he faced.

Slone finished with eight strikeouts.

The Storm is now 2-15 overall and 1-5 overall.

Caldwell has now beaten Hopkins Central 15 straight times.

The Tigers are scheduled to play two games at home on Saturday, facing Christian County at noon and West Creek of Clarksville at 4 p.m.
