Bobby Irving’s bases-loaded double in the top of the 8th inning broke a 1-1 tie and ignited a four-run rally as the Christian County took a 5-1 extra-inning win on the road at Graves County. The Colonels had loaded the bases on a single from Aiden Lewis, Gage Montes being hit by a pitch, and then an intentional walk to Preston Phan.

After Irving’s game-winning hit, the Colonels would add insurance runs on a passed ball and a sac fly.

Until that moment, the game had been a pitchers’ duel between Christian County’s Elijah Underhill and Graves County’s Cole Woodward. Underhill went all eight innings, giving up one run on just two hits, striking out 14 and walking three. Woodward went 7 2/3-innings, giving up five runs, three of them earned, on four hits, striking out one while walking three.

Christian County had taken a 1-0 lead in the top of the third thanks to an Eagle error.

Graves County came back to tie the game in the bottom of the sixth off a Christian County error and a passed ball.

Aiden Lewis led the Colonels going 2-4 with a run scored. Bobby Irving and Blake Boehman added one hit each for Christian County.

The Colonels improve to 17-10 with the win, which was the Colonels’ sixth straight and 10th in their last 12 games.
