It was an Abby McPherson kind of night Thursday for the Todd County Central Lady Rebels. The senior pitcher threw a strong seven innings and got up out fo the dust literally to drive in what would be the game-winning run as the Lady Rebels picked up their first ever win over the Christian County Lady Colonels 2-1 in Elkton.

McPherson gave up six hits, striking out seven and walking one over seven innings of work as she, for the most part, quieted the big-hitting lineup of the Lady Colonels.

McPherson also drove in what would be the game-winning run in the bottom of the third with an RBI single after she had gone to the dirt when hit by a pitch earlier in the at-bat while trying to lay down a bunt. McPherson’s RBI in the third came after Karli Herrera had doubled with one out to drive in Abby Williams with the game’s first run.

McPherson’s only rough spot in the game came in the bottom of the sixth when Saniya Shields led off the inning with a single, stole second, and then scored on a single to left from Gracie Harned to bring the Lady Colonels to within one run. McPherson would then set down the next four batters to close out the win.

Christian County’s Jordan Turner gave a big effort in the loss for the Lady Colonels. Turner went six innings, giving up two runs on four hits, striking out seven and walking four. Outside of the third inning, Turner only gave up one hit to the Lady Rebels.

Saniya Shields led Christian County at the plate, going 2-3 with a stolen base. Avery Adock, Haley Petterson, Gracie Harned, and Jada Miller had one hit each for Christian County.

Abby McPherson was 2-3 at the plate with an RBI for Todd Central. Karli Herrera and Addison Woodall had one hit each for the Lady Rebels.

Todd Central moves to 15-13 with the win, while Christian County drops to 14-10-1.
