Holeman Homers Twice in Caldwell’s Win at Hopkins Central

Harper Holeman homered twice and drove in six runs as Caldwell County’s girls outscored Hopkins County Central 16-9 Friday night in Mortons Gap.

An eight-run fourth inning was the difference as the Lady Tigers ran their win streak against the Lady Storm to 16 straight games.

Caldwell also scored five runs in the top of the fifth inning after Hopkins Central had gotten as close as 9-6.

It was the final 7th District game of the regular season for Caldwell, which is now 14-10 overall and 4-2 in district play. The Lady Tigers will be the No. 2 seed for the district tournament, which gets underway in just over a week at Hopkins Central.

Holeman went 4-for-5 for Caldwell, which outhit its host 13-11.

Holeman singled in the first inning, tripled home two runs in the fourth, had a two-run homer in the fifth and another two-run shot in the sixth.

A.J. Hollowell was 3-for-4 and scored four times. Brylee Butts finished 2-for-3 with three RBIs, including an inside-the-park home run.

Jackie Farmer tossed the first six innings for Caldwell and was the winning pitcher. Alexis Wood pitched the seventh inning and retired Hopkins Central in order to nail down the win.

Maggie Killough was 3-for-4 with a double and four RBIs lead to Hopkins Central.

It was the 13th straight loss for the Lady Storm, who are now 3-23 overall and 2-4 in the district.

Caldwell’s girls next host Crittenden County on Monday.
