Lyon Tennis Splits With Hosts Webster County

The Lyon County boys’ and girls’ tennis teams split eight singles matches with hosts Webster County on Thursday, with the Lady Lyons falling 2-1 in doubles and the boys going 1-1.

For the girls, Lyon’s Josie Kaminski was an 8-5 winner over Webster’s Kimberly Shelton, and Jackie Hall prevailed 8-1 over Mylee McDowell.  Webster’s Sara Welshans topped Anna Crawford 8-0, and Brylee Whitledge won 8-0 over the Lady Lyons’ Alli Holt.

In girls’ doubles, Lyon’s Holt and Hall knocked off Kathryn Poston and Brookelyn Whitledge 8-4, and Webster’s Brylee Whitledge and Maggie White won 8-5 over Katie Ladd and Cassidy Chaptman.

For the boys, Webster’s Weston Wint won 8-5 over Zach Radivonyk, and the Trojans’ Cade Howell shut out Deven Guess 8-0.

Timothy Taylor and Walker Suitor had the singles win for the Lyons, topping Ashton Brown 8-2 and Trigo Torres 8-5.

Jackson Crawford and Dalton Phillips earned a doubles win for the Lyons, handling Brown and Torres 8-3.  However, Wint and Howell beat Lyon’s Brandon Roy and Collin Calhoun 8-0 to force a tie.
