Lady Rebels Knock Off Monroe County and Warren Central

A trip to Bowling Green Saturday turned out to be a productive one for the Todd County Central Lady Rebels. The Lady Rebels were at Warren Central to play games against the host Lady Dragons and the Monroe County Lady Falcons.

In their first game of the day, another solid pitching performance from Abby McPherson and a big day at the plate from three Todd Central hitters carried the Lady Rebels to an 8-1 win over Monroe County. It was the second win of the season for Todd Central over the Lady Falcons. The other came back on March 25 in the 4th Region All A Classic.

Todd Central scored two runs to take the lead in the top of the second. The first three Lady Rebel batters in the inning reached base safely. Aubrey Perone then scored on a sac fly to make it 1-0. Brooklyn Alder then drove in Addison Woodall with a bunt single to extend the lead to 2-0.

Monroe County got one of those runs back in the bottom half of the inning on a two-out single.

From there, the game was scoreless until the top of the sixth when the Lady Rebels erupted for six runs. After Abby McPherson reached on a single and Naomi Welborn connected for a double, Addison Woodall doubled to score McPherson. Rylann Griggs singled to drive in a run and make it a 5-1 lead. By the time the inning was over, the Lady Rebels had blown the lead out to 8-1.

Naomi Welborn was 2-4 for the Lady Rebels. Abby McPherson was 2-4 with a run scored. Addison Woodall finished 2-3 with an RBI and two runs scored.

In the circle, Abby McPherson went six innings, giving up one unearned run on four hits, striking out eight, and walking one.

The Lady Rebels’ second game of the day saw them take the lead in the top of the first and never look back on their way to a 12-2 five-inning win over the Warren Central Lady Dragons.

Todd Central took a 3-0 lead in the top of the first. The big hits in the inning were an RBI single from Abby McPherson and an RBI double from Addison Woodall. The Lady Rebels extended the lead to 6-0 in the top of the second. Abby McPherson drove in a run with a single and Addison Woodall connected for a two-run double.

Warren Central got a couple of those runs back in the bottom of the second to cut the lead to 6-2.

Todd County Central lowered the boom in the top of the fifth, plating six runs and bringing the ten-run rule into play. The big hit in the inning came from Rylann Griggs, who drove in a pair of runs with a double.

Naomi Gammon and Addison Woodall combined to pitch the five innings for the Lady Rebels, giving up two runs, one of them earned, on four hits, striking out eight and walking just one.

With the two wins, the Lady Rebels improve to 17-13 on the season.
