Hoptown Takes 9th Place at Area 1 Championships

Several personal bests dotted the Hopkinsville High score sheet at Saturday’s Area 1 track and field championships at McCracken County High School.

FIELD EVENTS

Devin Coleman had the top finish for Hopkinsville in the throwing events, placing 16th in the shot put. 6th place. His toss of 36 feet 8.5 inches was a personal best.

Alden Marshall came in 19th place, also with a personal best. His distance was 36 feet, 3.5 inches.

In the discus throw, Coleman was 21st at 98 feet, 9 inches, and ft, nine inches, and Davion Simon was 27th at 90-07.

James Bradley finished 23rd in the long jump at 16 feet, 2.25 inches.

Treston Kay was 13th in the triple jump at 37 feet, 2.75 inches, while Latravian Sharber was 20th at 33 feet, six inches.

RELAYS

The 1600-meter relay team had Hoptown’s best finish of the day. Gabe Harton, Floyd Kay, Kentrell Adams, and William Alston ran a season-best 3:37.70 to finish in fourth place as a team.

The 3200-meter relay team of Kentrell Adams, Lamareon Jeffers, Gabe Harton, and Carlo Jones came in 10th place with a time of 9:28.72 seconds.

The 800-meter relay team of Kristin Johnson, Treston Kay, Floyd Kay, and William Alston finished in 9th place with a time of 1:34.08.

The same team ran the 400-meter relay in 45.75 seconds to finish in 10th place.

HURDLES

Elijah Reed won the 110-meter hurdles in 17.11 seconds, a personal best.

Ian Rosario Alicia came in third place at 16.91 seconds. Rosario Alicia finished second in the 300-meter hurdles with a personal best time of 43.1 seconds while Reed was 12th in 49.7 seconds.

SPRINTS

Kristin Johnson came in 6th place in the 200-meter dash with a personal best time of 22.83 seconds, while Treston Kay was 19th in a personal best of 24.02 seconds.

Floyd Kay finished 9th in the 100-meter dash in 11.49 seconds, just edging teammate William Alston who was 10th at 11:53.

Kentrell Adams came in 14th place in the 400-meter dash with a time of 55.98 seconds.

MIDDLE DISTANCE

Gabe Harton ran a time of 2:11.60 in the 800-meter dash to finish in 8th place, while Lamarion Jeffers was 16th with a personal best time of 2:16.55 seconds.

Carlo Jones finished 20th in the 1600-meter run with a time of 5:35.86.

Victor Hatcher came in 19th place in the 3200-meter run in 14:56.1.

Hopkinsville scored 33 points to finish tied with Christian County for 9th place, six points behind 8th place Henderson County and three points better than 11th place Fort Campbell.
