Lady Colonels See Improved Times at Area 1 Championships

The Christian County Lady Colonels put together some strong finishes at the Area 1 Championships Saturday as they try and position themselves for the region meet later this month.

The Lady Colonels had several athletes put together personal best performances at the McCracken County High School track.

SPRINTS

Katieann Thompson ran the 400 meters in a personal best time of 1:02.38 to finish in second place.

Jayda Johnson finished 8th in the 400 meters, clocking a personal best at 1:06.30.

Kaidence Atwell was 17th in the 100-meter dash with a time of 13.92 seconds. Genesis McGee was 24th at 14.85 seconds.

Destiny Lewis finished in 18th place in the 200-meter dash in a personal best time of 29.92 seconds, while Kaliyah Leavell was 19th in 29.99.

RELAYS

The 800-meter relay team of Kaidence Atwell, Katieann Thompson, Destiny Lewis, and Jayda Johnson ran a season-best time of 1:52.54 to finish in fifth place.

The 400-meter relay team of Atwell, Lewis, Johnson, and Thompson finished in 7th place with a season-best time of 53.74 seconds.

The 1600-meter relay team was edged out at the finish by Callaway County for first place period. The team of Symeria Brown, Johnson, Thompson, and Atwell ran a season-best time of 4:22.15 seconds.

HURDLES

Julia Munoz finished fifth in the 300-meter hurdles in 51.49 seconds.

FIELD EVENTS

Olivia Jones finished 33rd in the shot put with a distance of 15 feet. She also finished in 30th place in the discus throw at 53-07.

Julia Munoz finished in 9th place in the long jump at 14-05.25.

As a team. Christian County finished in 8th place with 27 points tied with Madisonville. They were 11.5 points behind 7th place Fort Campbell and a point ahead of 10th place St. Mary.
