Colonels Extend Winning Run With Rout of Madisonville

Christian County’s Gage Montes allowed only two hits over five scoreless innings to send the Colonels to an eighth-straight victory with an 11-0 decision over visiting Madisonville-North Hopkins on Tuesday.

The Colonels improved to 19-10 ahead of their final home game on Wednesday against visiting Logan County.  The Maroons had won three of their last four but slipped to 7-18 ahead of a matchup with Muhlenberg County on Thursday.

After a four-run 1st with RBI singles by Carter Sholar and Brylle Javier, the Colonels made it 7-0 in the 2nd on a two-run triple by Elijah Underhill and Sholar’s RBI double.

Jacob Jenkins doubled in a run in the 3rd, and RBI doubles by Aiden Lewis and Preston Phan highlighted a three-run 4th to round out the scoring.

Montes struck out six over five innings to even his record on the mound at 3-3.

Sholar finished with two hits and two RBI, Javier smacked a pair of hits with a run driven in, Underhill drove in two, and Lewis had two hits and an RBI.

Erric Farmer took the loss for the Maroons, allowing eight runs, five earned, on eight hits with a walk and two strikeouts over two and two-thirds.  Lane Faulk worked an inning and a third in relief, giving up three runs, one earned, on three hits with a walk and a pair of strikeouts.
