The Christian County Colonels bounced back from a Wednesday loss to Logan County to blank hosts Marshall County 8-0 on Thursday behind solid performances on the mound by Elijah Underhill and Aiden Lewis.

The Colonels wasted no time getting on top, with Underhill leading off the game with a triple and coming home on Carter Sholar’s RBI single.

A bases-loaded walk made it 2-0 ahead of a two-run single by Blake Boehman.  Underhill came to bat for the second time in the opening frame and reached on an error that pushed two more runs across for a 6-0 advantage.

That would be more than enough support for Underhill to pick up his fifth win of the season on the mound.  He went three innings, allowing only two hits and striking out four with no walks.

Christian County’s Aiden Lewis took it from there, befuddling the Marshals over four frames while allowing only two hits with five strikeouts.

The Colonels tacked on two more runs in their final at-bat, with Gage Montes singling to drive one in and the eighth coming in on Brylle Javier’s groundout.

Five different Colonels had a hit each, Boehman finished with two RBI, and Sholar, Montes, Javier, and Bobby Irving drove in runs.

Christian County improved to 20-11 and will wrap up the regular season at Franklin-Simpson on Friday ahead of a postseason opener against Fort Campbell on Monday.
