Christian County Downs Franklin-Simpson in Final Regular Season Contest

The Christian County Colonels will head into the postseason on a two-game winning streak and having won 10 of their last 11 games. The Colonels concluded the regular season Friday night with a 5-2 win at Franklin Simpson.

The Colonels broke a 1-1 tie with a three-run fourth inning and that would turn out to the the difference in the game.

Christian County got on the board first in the top of the third inning when Carter Sholar drove in Jonathan Lewis with a sacrifice fly to make it 1-0.

The Wildcats evened things up with an RBI double in the bottom half of the inning to make it a 1-1 game.

In the top of the fourth, Preston Phan and Brylle Javier were each hit by a pitch with one out in the inning. Bobby Irving drove both of them in with a double to left field to make it 3-1. Later in the inning, Jacob Jenkins doubled to drive in Jonathan Lewis to extend the lead to 4-1.

The Colonels added an insurance run in the top of the sixth inning on an RBI single from Eliljah Underhill to run the lead out to 5-1. Franklin-Simpson got the run back in the bottom of the inning, but that would be the end of any comeback.

Bobby Irving led the Christian County offense, going 2-3 with a double and two RBIs. Jacob Jenkins was 1-2 with an RBI. Elijah Underhill finished the game 1-3 with an RBI.

On the mound, Sebastian Dazey went all seven innings for the Colonels. He gave up two runs on eight hits, striking out four and walking two.

Christian County finishes the regular season at 21-11. The Colonels open district play Monday evening taking on Fort Campbell in the 8th District tournament at Christian County High School.
