For the second time in four years, a Collins sister hit a last-inning home run against Trigg County in the 5th District Tournament.

Eighth-grader Courtney Collins broke a 2-2 tie with a one-out home run to left field to give the Lady Lyons a 3-2 win Monday in Marion.

It was the only hit for Collins, who joined six other Lady Lyons in the hit column.

Lily Perry allowed only four hits in improving to 8-8. She walked five but also struck out five.

Trigg County scored first on a first-inning RBI single by Maddie Smith.

Lyon County took a 2-1 lead in the second on consecutive singles by Emma Brasher, Lauren Davis, and Piper Cotham followed by a Lady Wildcat error.

Kady Fuller’s fifth-inning double scored Rylee Hendricks, who had a hit and finished the season with a school-record 46 hits.

Tember Oliver pitched the first three innings and allowed two runs and four hits. Avery Wade pitched well in relief, allowing three hits in four innings.

The Lyon County win comes four years after Courtney’s older sister Calista Collins hit a walk-off home run to beat Trigg 1-0 in the district championship.

Lyon County improved to 63-5 all-time against Trigg County, including a 14-0 mark in the district tournament.

Trigg’s season ends with a 12-16 record.

The tournament’s three-seed, Lyon County (9-17) will play four-seed Crittenden County in Tuesday’s championship game. The Lady Rockets upset top-seed and defending champion Livingston Central 7-1 in the opener.
