Lyon County sophomore Eli Baker has been named the 2023 5th District Baseball Player of the Year based on voting by the coaches.
On the mound, Baker was 7-1 with a 0.98 ERA. He struck out 57 batters in 50 innings pitched and issued just 20 walks while allowing seven earned runs. He averaged just 81 pitches per outing.
At the plate, Baker hit .355 with a team-high five home runs and 23 RBI. He had 13 extra-base hits and was 12 for 12 in stolen bases.
