Anna Kemp pitched a three-hitter as Henderson County rolled past Madisonville-North Hopkins 14-0 in Monday night in the 2nd Region softball semifinals in Mortons Gap.
In a battle of teams ranked in the state’s Top 10, Henderson used a 10-run fourth inning to put the game away on the mercy rule after five innings.
Henderson entered the game ranked No. 5 in the state coaches’ poll while Madisonville was No. 8.
Kendal Hargrove’s three-run homer highlighted a four-run third inning that put Henderson (29-5) in front.
Hargrove finished the day 2-for-2 with five runs batted in and three runs scored.
Anna Willett was 2-for-3 and drove in three while Alyse Rollings, Kemp and Maggie Grogan each had two hits apiece for the Lady Colonels.
After the four-run third, Henderson sent 14 batters to the plate in the fifth inning while blowing the contest open.
Zoe Davis had two of Madisonville’s three hits, going 2-for-3.
The Lady Maroons end the season with a record of 27-7.
Kemp is now 19-5 inside the pitching circle for Henderson. She struck out six and walked three.
The Lady Colonels will face Caldwell County in Wednesday’s 6 p.m. championship game at Hopkins County Central High School.
