Hoptown Track Takes Seventh Place at Region

Hopkinsville High School finished in seventh place at Tuesday’s Class 3A Region 1 track and field meet and produced one region champion.

As a team, the Tigers totaled 40 points to finish six points behind sixth-place Daviess County and eight points better than eighth-place Christian County.

SPRINTS

William Alston won the 400 meters with a circuit around the track in 50.49 seconds. Alston also finished in fourth place in the 200 meters (22.48).

The top two finishers at the region automatically advance to the state meet, while the following ten best times/distances statewide also advance.

Kristin Johnson was eighth in the 200 meters in 23.43 seconds.

Floyd Kay finished 10th in the 100-meter dash (11.47) and Treston Kay was 17th (11.87).

Kentrell Adams was 14th in the 400 meters (55.36).

HURDLES

Ian Rossario Alicea came in second place in the 300-meter hurdles (42.95) and was seventh in the 110-meter hurdles (17.45).

Elijah Reid finished fourth in the 110-meter hurdles (16.65) and seventh in the 300-meter hurdles (45.66).

MIDDLE DISTANCE

Gabe Harton finished 11th in the 800-meter dash (2:13.31) and LaMareon Jeffers was 13th (2:14.91).

In the 1600-meter run, Carlo Jones finished in 15th place (5:21.67).

RELAYS

Hopkinsville had a pair of relay teams finish in third place and will play the state meet qualification waiting game. The 800-meter relay team ran a 1:32.46 and the 1600-meter relay team was edged at the line with a time of 3:29.32.

The 400-meter relay team finished seventh in 46.25 seconds.

The 3200-meter relay team was eighth in 9:18.98.

FIELD EVENTS

Devin Coleman finished 11th place (35-4) in the shot put and 16th in the discus throw (95-2).

Davian Simon was fifth in the discus throw (120-9).

LaTravean Sharber was seventh in the long jump at 18-5.25 and Keyshun Teal was 14th (15-11).

Treston Kay was seventh in the triple jump (39-02.50) and Sharber was 13th (34-00.50).
