For the first time in several years, Lyon County is sending entries to the state tennis tournament in Lexington. The tournament gets underway Tuesday morning.
In girls’ singles play, Lyon County’s Anna Crawford will make her first-round appearance Tuesday morning at 9:15. Crawford, a junior, is matched up against North Oldham freshman Bailey Scott. Scott is one of the top eight girls’ seeds in the tournament.
In boys’ doubles play, it will be a rematch for the doubles team of Jackson Crawford and Dalton Phillips. The Lyon duo will be matched up against Ethan Larkins and Braeden Bell, of Madisonville-North Hopkins, Tuesday morning at 9:30. Phillips and Crawford won a regular season match over the Maroon pairing 9-7.
The winners in Tuesday’s opening rounds will play their second-round matches later in the day.
