Crawford Soaks In First State Tennis Tourney Experience (w/PHOTOS)

For Anna Crawford, her rise in the region tennis ranks has been a quick one. The Lyon County junior advanced to the region semifinals and earned a berth in the state tournament in just her second season on the court.

On Tuesday, she became the first Lady Lyon to compete at the state tournament in eight years. Crawford dropped a 6-0, 6-1 game to North Oldham’s Bailey Scott at the Hilary J. Boone Tennis Complex at the University of Kentucky but the experience already has her looking ahead to next year.

Scott, the Region 8 winner and seeded in the top 8 for the state tournament, used a strong forehand to keep Crawford on the move throughout the match improving her record to 15-3 in high school matches this spring.

Crawford’s season ended with a record of 7-9, including a pair of losses in tie-breakers. She looks to use to experience of her first state tournament to drive her senior season in 2024.
