The baseball season and their time as a member of the KCAA, came to a tough end for the Heritage Christian Academy Warriors Friday afternoon. Cornerstone Christian Academy used a nine-run third inning to blow open the game on the way to a 15-0 four-inning win over the Warriors in the semifinals of the KCAA state tournament in Shelbyville.

The loss marks the final game in the KCAA for Heritage Christian, who becomes a full member of the Kentucky High School Athletic Association with the 2023-2024 school year.

Cornerstone took the early lead in the game, scoring three runs in the bottom of the first inning to go up 3-0. Cornerstone took advantage of a walk, a hit batter, an HCA error and a pair of hits in the inning.

Things got completely away from the Warriors in the bottom of the third inning. The first nine batters in the inning for Cornerstone all reached base safely. By the time the inning came to an end, Cornerstone had plated nine runs and blown the lead out to 12-0. HCA pitchers struggled in the inning, giving up two hit batters and four walks.

Cornerstone then closed out the game with the first five batters all reaching base in the bottom of the fourth. The last came on a two run double that ended the game due to the 15-run rule.

Heritage Christian was limited to just one hit in the game, that coming off the bat of freshman Collin Outland.

The Warriors did not help their cause in the field, being charged with four errors which helped Cornerstone to score five unearned runs.

Tra Fowler got the start on the hill for the Warriors and was charged with the loss.
