In their final year in the KCAA, the Heritage Christian Academy Lady Warriors will play for the KCAA state softball championship. The Lady Warriors advanced to the finals by rolling past Micah 13-1 Friday afternoon in Shelbyville.

Heritage Christian will end two years of probationary membership and become a full-fledged member of the Kentucky High School Athletic Association for the 2023-2024 school year.

The Lady Warriors scored at least two runs in all five of their at-bats in the contest on their way to the five-inning win. HCA scored three in the first, two in the second and third, three in the fourth, and then closed out the game with three more in the bottom of the fifth.

HCA got things going in the first when Rachel Robson reached base on a dropped third strike. She would steal second and then later score on a ground out. Hallie Zieg singled and then scored on a double by Madison Warren to make it 2-0. Warren scored on a single from Kennedy Hughes as the lead grew to 3-0.

The Lady Warriors added two runs in the second. The big hit in the inning was an RBI triple from Hadlee Hayes. HCA plated two more in the bottom of the third inning. Madison Warren connected with an RBI double and Layton Weeks cleared the bases with an RBI triple to make it a 7-0 lead.

A two-out rally generated three runs for the Lady Warriors in the fourth. Kailyn Johnson and Kailyn Stanley had back-to-back singles to get the rally started. Hallie Zieg drove them both in with a two-out triple. Zieg would then score on a double from Madison Warren to make it 10-0.

Micah managed to scratch out a run in the top of the 5th to cut the lead to 10-1, but that would not stop Heritage from closing things out in the bottom of the inning. After three singles to lead off the inning, Kailyn Johnson ended the game with a base-clearing triple.

Johnson finished the game 2-4 with a triple and four RBIs. Madison Warren was 3-3, with three doubles, and three RBIs. Hallie Zieg ended her day going 3-3, with a triple, and two RBIs.

Kennedy Hughes went the distance in the circle, giving up one run on six hits, striking out five, and walking two.
