Four Hoptown pitchers combined to throw a one-hitter Sunday night as the Hoppers picked up their first win of the season with a 6-1 road win over the Full Count Rhythm. The victory ended a three-game losing skid to open the season for Hoptown.

Jack McGuire, Cannon Anthony, John Girard, and Chase Gruno, all took to the mound for the Hoppers. McGuire, who got the start, picked up the win, going four innings, giving up no runs on no hits, striking out three and walking three.

It was another quick start for the Hoppers as they picked up three runs in the top of the first inning. Hoptown took advantage of three walks and a Full Count error to pick up the runs. Fred Fernandez and Carter Hood had RBI singles in the inning.

A Hopper throwing error allowed Full Count to score their only run of the game in the bottom of the fifth, trimming the lead to 3-1.

The Hoppers then put the game away in the sixth, scoring three runs off a combination of a wild pitch, two fielder’s choices, and a Full Count error, pushing the lead out to 6-1.

Fred Fernandez led the Hopper offense, going 2-4 with two RBIs. Carter Hood finished 2-5 with a pair of RBIs.

John Girard gave Hoptown three solid innings on the mound in relief. He gave up no runs on no hits, striking out four and walking none.
