It was a brutally tough way to lose the 13th District opener for the Todd County Central Rebels Tuesday night. In a match that was a battle from the beginning, the Rebels dropped a 3-2 road decision at Franklin-Simpson losing in penalty kicks.
The Wildcats took an early 1-0 lead in the match when they slipped one in at the far post 15 minutes into the match.
The Rebels evened things up when Chris Salazar bent in a free kick from 30 yds out at the 30:00 mark to make it 1-1. The Rebels then appeared to have momentum flowing in their direction going into the break when Ivan Lopez attacked the corner and then dropped the ball back to Chris Salazar, who slid it over to Zack Robinson right at the top of the 18 and he hit a low rocket into the net to put the Rebels up 2–1 at the half.
A failed clearance gave Franklin-Simpson an easy goal around 10 minutes into the second half. From there, the battle was on, with near misses for both teams even though both golden goal overtimes.

In the penalty kick round, John Riley Service and Zack Robinson converted their kicks, but 2 saves by the Wildcats’ keeper and a final miss for us gave Franklin-Simpson the win.
The loss drops the Rebels to 2-2 on the season and 0-1 in 13th District play. Todd County Central returns to action Saturday when they travel to take on Henderson County.
