It was a tough trip south of the state line for the Christian County Lady Colonels Thursday night. Controlling play most of the night, Clarksville Northeast picked up a 9-0 win over Christian County as the Lady Colonels wrapped up the regular season.
Northeast’s defense limited the opportunities for the Lady Colonels, not allowing them to possess the ball long enough to make much happen on the offensive end of the field. Christian County would end up with only five shots on goal for the match.
With the offense struggling, the pressure was on the backline defense and goalie Jayda Turner. Turner did finish the night in goal with 12 saves.
The loss ended Christian County’s regular season with a record of 7-12. Still, the team made significant process this season after winning twice in 2022. The seven wins are the most for the Lady Colonels since they finished the 2018 season 10-9-2.
Up next for Christian County is the 8th District tournament. The Lady Colonels will face off against Hopkinsville Tuesday night in the semifinals. Hopkinsville won 2-0 in the regular season matchup between the two teams.
