A strong second-half performance was not quite enough for the University Heights Academy Blazers to avoid their second straight loss Tuesday night. Henderson County got 30 points from Alec Satterfield as the Colonels took an 83-74 home-court win over the Blazers.
Satterfield and Cooper Davenport combined to score 14 points in the opening quarter as Henderson took a 22-17 lead after the opening quarter. Tylin George got off to a hot start for the Blazers with nine points in the first.
Henderson’s defense limited UHA to just nine points in the second quarter as the Colonels extended the lead to 35-26 at the break.
Both teams came out of the break with their offenses firing on all cylinders. The Blazers put up 29 points in the quarter as they trimmed the Henderson County lead to 60-55 going into the final quarter. Gavin Grubbs lit it up for UHA in the third with nine points.
Henderson County was able to fend off the comeback as the 4th quarter started. The Colonels went 9 of 11 at the free throw line over the final eight minutes as they secured the win, despite another big quarter from UHA’s Tylin George, who scored 12 more in the fourth.
Tylin George finished with 30 points for UHA, including six made 3-pointers. Gavin Grubbs added 15 points, including three shots from behind the arc. Quinton Quarles joined the double-figure effort with 10 points.
In addition to Alec Satterfield’s 30 points, Cooper Davenport finished with 20 points and Elijah Suggs had 13 points.
The win improves Henderson County to 4-0 on the season.
UHA drops to 2-2 and will head to Madisonville Thursday night to take on the Maroons.
