For the fifth time in as many games so far this season, Hopkinsville senior Antonio Williams posted a double-double in the Tigers’ 70-50 victory over hosts Logan County on Tuesday. Williams’ totals of 33 points and 19 rebounds are both season highs, taking his averages to almost 25 points and 15 rebounds per contest.
The Tigers doubled up the Cougars in the opening frame, building an 18-9 lead behind nine points from DeReion Dudley and seven for Williams. It was more of the same in the second as the Tiger duo combined for 11 points to push the difference to 36-19 at the halftime break.
The teams combined for only 22 points in the third, with Samson Hightower scoring five of his team-high 15 for the Cougars.
Logan County did its best to keep pace as the game wound down, getting six fourth-quarter points from Brady Hinton and Nick Blann to go with five from Tyler Johnson. However, Williams erupted for 18 points in the final frame, and the Tigers also got five from Keontae Radford to outscore the Cougars 23-20 for the final margin.
