Lyon County opened the game with a 22-0 run, led 62-22 at halftime, and cruised to a 97-38 win at 5th District rival Crittenden County.

With a 6-hour trip to Wayland for a throwback game Saturday against Floyd Central waiting following the contest, the Lyons made quick work of Friday night’s game in Marion.

The Lyons held the Rockets scoreless for the first 5:25 of the contest while seizing control early.

A 3-pointer from the corner by Bray Kirk made it 20-0, then a putback by Isaac Defew completed Lyon’s game-opening run at the 2:49 mark of the first quarter.

Turner Sharp got Crittenden on the scoreboard with a 3 with 2:35 left in the period, but Lyon led 32-11 after 8 minutes.

Travis Perry had four 3s in the first period as part of a 35-point performance. The state’s all-time leading scorer had 15 points in the opening stanza and 27 at halftime.

The Lyons, now 5-1 overall and 3-0 against district foes, also got 13 points from Jack Reddick, 12 from Bray Kirk and 10 from Brady Shoulders in the big win

Crittenden, which is still without leading scorer Travis Champion due to an injury, got 12 points from Jonah Reddick and 10 from Jaxon Hatfield.

The Lyons will face Floyd Central at 6:30 p.m. Central time Saturday in the Mountain Sports Hall of Fame Throwback Game in the old Wayland Gym, which was home to “King” Kelly Coleman, the state’s former all-time leading scorer.

The Jaguars are also 5-1 this season.

The Rockets will play in the St. Mary Christmas Classic next week in Paducah.
