It’s a rare occasion when the Kentucky basketball loses to the Louisville Cardinals, especially in recent memory.

Kentucky has pretty much owned the “rivalry” over the course of John Calipari’s tenure. After Kentucky’s 95-76 blowout of Louisville on Thursday night, the Wildcats lead the series 13-3.

The win came in large part due to Antonio Reeves catching fire early, contributing 22 of his 30 points in the first half to essentially put the game out of reach. He was joined by Tre Mitchell (18 points and 12 rebounds) and Reed Sheppard (11 points and 11 assists) who each had their first double-doubles as Wildcats.

Justin Edwards put up 13 points and Rob Dillingham had 12 to round out double-figure scoring for Kentucky.

It’s not been the year Cardinals fans had hoped for, with that being on full display at the KFC Yum! Center during Thursday night’s game. The crowd was mostly Kentucky fans, with a percentage of the Louisville fans actually in attendance covering their faces as their team continues to have a record under .500.

Kentucky, on the other hand, continues to roar as they improve to 9-2 on the year. The No. 9 Wildcats will host Illinois State next Friday at Rupp Arena before Southeastern Conference play begins in January. Tip-off for next week’s game is scheduled for 7 PM ET with coverage on the SEC Network.
