Lady Falcons Host Invitational, Take 5th Place

Fort Campbell finished in fifth place at Thursday’s Fort Campbell Invitational at Dave Aaron Arena on the campus of Austin Peay State University.

The Lady Falcons scored 106 points to finish 14 points behind fourth-place Union County. Clarksville High won the match with 174 points, while Montgomery Central was second with 150 points.

Sophia Bober-McDonald, who entered the week unranked in the state in the latest kentuckywrestling.com rankings, won the 126-pound class with four wins by pin.

Kayla Maslonka, ranked second in the state at 114, finished third. Her only loss was to Clarksville High’s Anete Rodriguez.

Brooke Arbic, the No. 4 wrestler statewide at 165, advanced to the championship with a win over No. 5 Gabby Palomo of North Hardin in the semifinals. She was injured in the match and took a medical forfeit ahead of the championship.

Thea Bober-McDonald, the No. 3 wrestler in the state at 126, finished in third place. Her lone loss in four matches came to Montgomery Central’s Emily Whitmore in a 6-5 decision.

Lillianah DeWitt took fourth place in the 120-pound class. She is ranked fourth in the state in her weight class. Her losses Thursday came to Talynn Clark of Ohio County, the top-ranked wrestler at 114, and Sutton Fuller of Union County.

Cassidy Harrington is ranked sixth in the 132-pound class. She finished in fifth place on Thursday.

Jennifer Velazquez took sixth place in the 145-pound class.
