Caldwell County won two key stat categories, translating into a 55-37 win over Trigg County on Thursday in Cadiz.
The win snapped a five-game losing streak overall and an eight-game skid against the Lady Wildcats dating back to the 2020 region tournament.
Caldwell County owned the glass, outrebounding Trigg 43-29. They were able to convert 20 offensive rebounds into 14 second-chance points.
Brylee Butts and Nyla Sykes each had five offensive boards for the Lady Tigers who got up 10 more shots than the Lady Wildcats.
Caldwell County also scored 21 points off 17 Trigg turnovers.
The Lady Tigers never trailed in the game and led by as many as 18 points in both halves.
Butts finished with 19 points and 12 rebounds for Caldwell, and Tink Clark added 13 points and seven boards.
Caldwell also saw Davani Williams nearly triple her season scoring average with eight points and three rebounds.
Trigg County got 21 points from its bench, led by AJ Navarro’s 14 points. She knocked down three of Trigg County’s four 3-pointers.
Reese Bush added 10 points, and Veyda Grinols scored six points and pulled down eight rebounds.
Caldwell County improved 6-14 ahead of Saturday’s game at Crittenden County.
Trigg County dropped its eighth straight game and fell to 3-16. The Lady Wildcats will host Hopkins County Central on Friday.
