The Trigg County baseball team snapped a six-game losing streak on Thursday with an 11-2 victory at Mayfield to close the regular season with a record of 9-14.

The Wildcats handed Mayfield its seventh straight defeat behind a three-hit night for Aidon Butts.  Butts led off the game with a single ahead of RBI doubles by Chase Hampton and Slaton Carter for a 3-0 lead.

RBI singles by James Garnett and Butts highlighted a five-run third inning to stretch the advantage to 8-1.  Haydon Reynolds collected his second hit of the night with a two-run single in the top of the fifth to cap the scoring.

Hampton earned the win on the mound, allowing two unearned runs on three hits with four walks and seven strikeouts over six innings.  Lance Breckel worked a scoreless seventh with two strikeouts and a walk.

Hampton joined Haydon Reynolds with two hits and drove in a run, Carter finished with three RBI, and Bentley Reynolds, A’Jarrious Bell, and Garnett each drove in a run.

Ethan Kemp took the loss for the 5-10 Cardinals, surrendering 11 runs, five earned, on seven hits with six walks and three strikeouts over four innings.

The Wildcats open the postseason on Monday against top-seeded Lyon County in the 5th-District tournament at Livingston Central.  Trigg County has dropped the last 13 games in the series with the Lyons.
