The Todd County Central Rebels and Lady Rebels track and field teams will have three automatic qualifiers for the state meet with a handful of entries waiting to see if they will qualify. The regional meet was held Tuesday afternoon at Green County.

For the Lady Rebels, Melanie Chamberlaine qualified with a second-place finish in the Girls 300 Meter Hurdles. She finished with a time of 50.49, just over a second behind the winner, Carolina Jones, of Hancock County. Chamberlaine’s teammate Mary Beth Prather took 5th place.

Chamberlaine finished 3rd in the Girls 100 Meter Hurdles with a time of 17.98. Mallary Bailey, of Owensboro Catholic won the race with a time of 16.78. Chamberlaine is now in wait and see mode for the 100 meter hurdles.

The other automatic qualifier for the Lady Rebels was the Girls 4×100 Meter Relay team, which finished second with a time of 52.92. Glasgow won the event with a 51.79.

On the boys side, Fisher Borders qualified for this year’s state meet in the Boys 200 Meter Dash. Borders ran a time of 23.22, less than .3 seconds behind Gage Bale, of Green County.

Borders had a 4th place finish in the Boys 100 Meter Dash with a time of 11.59. Byron Kirkland-Lundy, of Metcalfe County won the race with a time of 11.38.

Other Todd County entries that just missed an automatic slot that may have a shot at getting in are the Girls 4×200 Meter Relay team which finished third. The Boys 4×100 Meter Relay team also finished third.

There were some 4th place finishes for Todd Central, but those would be longer shots to make the cut for the state meet.
