The Caldwell County Lady Tiger volleyball team got off to a strong start on Friday at the Bluegrass State Games in Lexington.
The Lady Tigers won their first two matches in the opening round of pool play.
Caldwell beat Marion County in three sets in its first match, 21-19, 9-21, 15-9.
The Lady Tigers then defeated Christian Fellowship School 21-16, 21-19.
Teams were placed into new pools on Saturday based on Friday’s outcomes.
Caldwell started the second day with a three-set loss to Whitesville Trinity, 21-19, 17-21, 15-7.
The Lady Tigers then fell in straight sets to Greenup County 21-13, 21-11.
Caldwell’s girls finished the day against Johnson Central, but dropped a 21-13, 21-14 decision.
That put the Lady Tigers into Flight 4 for Sunday’s single-elimination play.
Caldwell drew Ohio County and won the first set. However, the Lady Eagles took the second set. The third set was tied 11-11 before Ohio pulled ahead for the win.
The Bluegrass State Games count as preseason matches for high school volleyball teams.
