A quick start by Calloway County was a bit too much for the Lyon County Lady Lyons to overcome Tuesday evening. The Lady Lakers scored three times in the first 20 minutes of the match as they took a 4-1 scrimmage win over the Lady Lyons at a sultry Lee S. Jones Park.
The match was less than a minute old when the Lady Lakers found the net for the first time. Calloway County scored twice more before the first break near the 20-minute mark due to the heat.
From that point on, Lyon County keeper Richmond Herring did a solid job at keeping the door closed on the Lady Lakers.
The match stayed 3-0 until Lyon County’s Anna White drilled a shot from the left corner of the box to cut the lead to 3-1.
Calloway County got that goal back in the final seconds to close out the scoring for the match.
Lyon County now gets ready to open the season when they Union County Monday night.
