
Layla Gugel scored three goals and assisted on a fourth as Henderson County remained unbeaten against region competition with a 6-0 win at Hopkinsville on Thursday.
Gugel’s hat trick gave her eight goals for the season.
The freshman took a cross from Lila Hall in the second minute and scored to stake the Lady Colonels to the quick lead.
Four minutes later, Taylor Dunn scored off an assist from Kacee Butler.
Henderson scored its third goal in the first nine minutes when Dunn scored off a pass from Gugel in front.
Gugel sandwiched a pair of goals around Butler’s ninth tally of the season.
Henderson County improved to 5-4, which includes a 4-0 mark against region teams. It was their 13th straight win over Hoptown dating back to 2014.
Hopkinsville moved back to .500 with a 5-5 record.
Before the match, coach Jeff Addison was honored for picking up career win 250 on Monday.
The Lady Tigers will play three games at Saturday’s Lady Colonel Classic at the Stadium of Champions. They will face Kirkwood, Tenn. at 9:00, followed by Logan County at 1:00 and Ohio County at 7:00.
