The Hopkins County Central Lady Storm advanced to the semifinal round of the Kentucky 2A Championships volleyball sectional Thursday night. The Lady Storm rumbled past Trigg County in straight sets at Wildcat Gym.
This one was controlled by the Lady Storm from the very beginning. Hopkins County Central took the opening set 25-13 to go up 1-0 in the match.
Not much changed in the second set as the Lady Storm took the set 25-14 to go up two sets to none.
The Lady Wildcats put up a battle in the third set but still saw Hopkins County Central close out the match with a 25-21 win.
The Lady Storm was led by Mallory Wagoner with 10 kills and three aces. Aalycia Stringer also had a big night on the attack at the net with 10 kills. She added one service ace to her totals.
Izzy Hight finished with 26 assists, 1 kills, and 5 aces. Lyla Fortner served up five aces and came up with 7 digs for the Lady Storm.
Hopkins County Central goes to 5-2 on the season and will advance to take on Murray in the semifinals of the sectional Tuesday night at Webster County.
Trigg County falls to 0-6 for the year. The Lady Wildcats hit the road Tuesday to take on Livingston Central.
