
University Heights Academy will be playing in the Girls All A Classic State Soccer Tournament for the second straight season.
The Lady Blazers dispatched St. Mary 8-0 on Monday in Paducah to scan their ticket to the state tourney in Louisville.
Kendall Hancock scored five goals, including four straight for the Lady Blazers.
Audrey Perry locked down midfield and facilitated the UHA offense to the tune of two goals and two assists. Gracie Ausenbaugh added a goal and assisted on two others.
The UHA defense pitched its sixth shutout of the season, limiting the Lady Vikings to one shot on goal.
Monday’s match was the first between the schools in 14 years. UHA won that contest 5-0.
UHA (7-1) will play Sayre (8-1-1) in the opener of the All A Classic State Tournament at Assumption’s home field in Louisville at 9:30 am on Saturday, September 21. Sayre will be making its third appearance in the state tourney but has never advanced past the quarterfinals.
Last year, the Lady Blazers won their All A state opener before falling to eventual All A Classic and KHSAA state champion Bethlehem in the semifinals.
The Lady Blazers will have a chance to tune up for their All A appearance on Thursday when they play Henderson County in a rematch of last year’s region championship match, won by the Lady Colonels 3-1.
