
Henderson County continued its winning streak against Caldwell County, but the Lady Tigers didn’t let the Lady Colonels get out of Princeton with a shutout.
Kacee Butler had a pair of goals as Henderson picked up a 5-1 victory on Monday — the Lady Colonels’ 19th straight win over Caldwell.
Henderson (7-4) got goals from Butler and Lila Hall in the first half to take a 2-0 lead to the break.
Butler netted her second goal in the 47th minute to make it 3-0.
Marley Collins scored on a laser from the right side of the field into the far corner of the net in the 64th minute to extend the margin to 4-0.
Paislee Toombs scored just a minute later from the left side to put Henderson up 5-0.
Caldwell (3-4) busted up the shutout in the 79th minute when Aliya Towns sent a through ball to Addie Middleton, who raced behind the Lady Colonel defense.
Middleton beat the keeper to the ball and touched it past her. The ball rolled into the net to get the Lady Tigers on the scoreboard.
Henderson dominated possession for much of the night, owning a 37-6 advantage in shots.
Caldwell goalkeeper Abbey Gill helped keep her team in the game with 23 saves.
Sarah Mackey had to make just one save at the other end for Henderson.
Layla Gugel had two assists for the Lady Colonels.
The Lady Colonels now lead all-time against Caldwell with 21 wins, two losses and two ties.
Caldwell’s two victories came in back-to-back seasons, 2009 and 2010.
The Lady Tigers are back in action on Tuesday with a trip to Christian County.
Henderson also plays again on Tuesday, visiting Evansville Christian.
