Lady Maroons Put Skid to Rest with Four Set Win Over Lady Storm

The long losing skid on the volleyball court for the Madisonville-North Hopkins Lady Maroons is now over. The Lady Maroons ended an 11 match losing streak with a four-set win on their home court over Hopkins County Central Tuesday evening.

The last win for Madisonville-North Hopkins had come back on September 5th when they knocked off district foe Caldwell County in five sets.

The win did not come easy for the Lady Maroons. Madisonville won the opening set 27-25. The second set also went extra, with the Lady Maroons winning 26-24 to go up two sets to none.

With their backs against the wall, the Lady Storm came charging back to take the third set 25-16. But this night would belong to the Lady Maroons.

Madisonville-North Hopkins closed out the match by winning the fourth set 25-22 to take the match three sets to one.

The Lady Maroons had big nights from Mackenzie Stoltz and Leah Moody, who finished with 7 kills each. Both also had 11 digs each.

Morgan Buntin added 15 assists to the Lady Maroon cause.

Play at the service line was big for Madisonville, as the Lady Maroons finished with 19 aces, led by Mackenzie Stoltz with 7 and Morgan Buntin with six.

Calijia Mason and Aalycia Stringer ended up with 9 kills each for the Lady Storm.

Isabel Hight had a great night setting up her teammates with 28 assists. High also led the Lady Storm with 6 service aces.

Madisonville-North Hopkins (5-19) is set to be on the road Thursday evening to take on Owensboro.

Hopkins County Central (9-9) goes on the road Thursday night to take on Crittenden County.
