Haydon Reynolds saw his high school golf career come to an end on Wednesday at the KHSAA State First Round at the Hopkinsville Golf and Country Club.
The Trigg County senior finished tied for 58th place with a round of 86, missing advancement to the state championship round by six shots.
Reynolds began on the back nine and overcame a wayward driver at times to move to 3-over through seven holes. However, he would manage just two pars the remainder of the day to card a 45 on the front nine.
Golfers at state first round need to finish in the top 15 so long as they are not on the three teams with the lowest scores to advance to the two-day championship round.
McCracken County’s Landon Hunt and Greenwood’s Layton Richey tied for the lead with even par 71s while McCracken County, Owensboro, and Taylor County will advance to the championship round next week.
Reynolds was looking to return to the state tournament in Bowling Green where he qualified as a freshman.
