Three of the top four-rated boys’ teams in the 2nd Region have drawn into the same side of the bracket, including perennial powers Henderson County and Madisonville-North Hopkins.
The regional tournament gets underway Monday with four first-round matches on the two fields at the Stadium of Champions in Hopkinsville.
According to the KHSAA RPI, Henderson County (13-3-4) is the top-rated team in the region while Christian County (12-7) is No. 4. Those two teams will meet on Field 1 Monday at 5:30 p.m.
The No. 2-rated team — and two-time defending 2nd Region champion Madisonville-North Hopkins (15-6-1) will play in the late game on that field at 7:15 against Lyon County (1-13).
Meanwhile, play on Field 2 Monday begins with Trigg County (6-8-5) and Webster County (8-10-2) at 5:30.
The 7:15 game on Field 2 has the third-ranked team in the region, University Heights Academy (14-7) facing Caldwell County (4-11-2).
The boys’ regional semifinals will be played Tuesday. The Field 1 winners from Monday will meet at 5:30 while the Field 2 winners will square off at 7:15.
The championship contest is set for Wednesday at 6 p.m.
