Kentucky basketball played their second and final exhibition game of the year on Tuesday night against Minnesota State, winning going away in the second half 98-67.

UK’s offense wasn’t exactly what they displayed against Kentucky Wesleyan last week, but the team still managed to score just two points shy of the century mark despite a very slow start.

The Wildcats led 17-14 at one point early in the first half before pulling away to lead 43-23 at halftime. They then led by as many as 40 in the second half before winning by 31 when the final buzzer sounded.

Jaxson Robinson led the Wildcats in points for the second consecutive game, scoring 24 on all three-point shots. He missed two of his first three to start the game but made 7-10 to finish the game.

Over Kentucky’s two exhibition games, Robinson has averaged 22.5 points and 4.5 rebounds and two assists.

Joining Robinson in double-figure scoring were Otega Oweh (15 points), Andrew Carr (14 points) and Brandon Garrison (12 points).

Travis Perry finished scoreless (0-2) in limited minutes while Trent Noah scored three points (1-3) in 16 minutes.

The Wildcats lost Amari Williams after less than four minutes of action due to an injury, but it appears to not be serious with head coach Mark Pope saying the x-rays were “clean” following the game.

Kentucky will begin their regular season next Monday when they host Wright State at Rupp Arena with tip-off scheduled for 7 PM ET.

  1. It’s one thing for Pope to tell them to shoot the threes, it’s another to get them to actually do so. Maybe Robinson’s 2 years of playing for Pope has get him dialed in, but the rest of the bunch need to be ready to shoot instead of think about if they should shoot. Believing you are going to make the shot is half the battle. They all have good shooting DNA, so let it fly! Go CATS!!!
