After reaching the 2024 2nd Region championship game with a team that had no seniors and only one junior, the Hopkins County Central Lady Storm are looking to make some noise in the region with a more experienced bunch in 2024-2025. In preparation for another postseason run, the Lady Storm will face a schedule that includes some big tests, including a matchup with last season’s state runner-up.
Coach Phillip Cotton and his team will officially open the season at home December 3 when they host Whitesville Trinity. Other home games will include tests against Union County, Christian County, Livingston Central, and Trigg County.
The road schedule is highlighted by matchups against defending 1st Region champ and state runner-up McCracken County and perennial 1st Region power Marshall County. The Lady Storm will also travel to Hopkinsville, Allen County-Scottsville, Lyon County, and Muhlenberg County.
There is also the usual run through the 7th District against Caldwell County, Madisonville-North Hopkins, and Dawson Springs.
Hopkins County Central will also have some ‘event’ appearances this season. December 14, they will take on Carlisle County in the Holiday Hoopla Classic. The Lady Storm will travel to Gatlinburg in the days leading up to Christmas. During the break between Christmas and New Year’s, the Lady Storm will play in the Caveland Classic, opening up against Ohio County. And, they will take part in the Kentucky 2A Championships sectional tournament.
Hopkins County Central finished the 2023-2024 season at 20-15, falling to Henderson County in the 2nd Region championship game.
