Coming off an 18-win season in 2023-2024, hopes are running high this year for Coach Mickey Blue and the Dawson Springs Panthers as the new season prepares to get underway. The Panthers will officially open the campaign December 2 at home against Christian Fellowship.
The Dawson Springs schedule features some interesting regular season matchups as well as a holiday trip to Northern Kentucky.
In addition to the opener against Christian Fellowship, the Panthers’ home schedule has contests against Heritage Christian, Community Christian, Apollo, and Logan County. One note, after the opener, Dawson Springs will not play at home again until the 2nd Region All A Classic.
On the road, the Panthers are set to face Webster County, Mayfield, Henderson County, Crittenden County, and defending state champion Lyon County.
Plus, there is the usual run through the 7th District against Hopkins County Central, Caldwell County, and Madisonville-North Hopkins. The district appears, going into the season, to be the most competitive it has been, potentially, in several years.
The holiday schedule will find the Panthers playing at the Commonwealth Rolled Products Tournament before Christmas and then traveling to Bellevue Kentucky after Christmas for the Swauger Holiday Classic.
This year’s 2nd Region All A Classic has the Panthers hosting Livingston Central on January 7. A win over the Cardinals would put Dawson into the semifinals in their home gym against either Fort Campbell or Caldwell County.
Dawson Springs finished last season at 18-13, falling to Caldwell County in the 7th District semifinals.
