Brylee Butts scored 11 of her game-high 18 points in the fourth quarter as the Caldwell County Lady Tigers picked up their first win of the season.

Caldwell’s girls outscored McLean County 22-9 in the decisive final frame, turning a 21-21 tie into a 43-30 victory Thursday night in Calhoun.

Butts finished the night with 18 points, seven rebounds, five steals and two blocked shots. Med Thomas added 10 points and 10 boards while Davani Williams had eight points on 4-of-4 shooting from the field.

The Lady Tigers managed just two free throws in the first quarter while falling behind 6-2 after 8 minutes.

However, Butts had six points and Thomas four in the second quarter to help Caldwell build a 15-11 advantage at halftime.

McLean (0-2) battled back to tie things through three quarters.

But Caldwell’s big fourth quarter allowed the Lady Tigers to get out of town with the win.

The Lady Cougars did not have anyone score in double figures. Mallory Hampton led the way with nine points.

It was the first game between the two schools since February of 2011 and just the third meeting all-time. The Lady Tigers have now taken two of those.

Caldwell’s girls will next host Fort Campbell on Tuesday.
