Lady Lyons Roar Past Lady Tigers in Grind Session

Just 24 hours after being dealt a tough loss on the road at Graves County, the Lyon County Lady Lyons rebounded in a big way. Three players scored in double figures as the Lady Lyons took an early lead and rolled to a 64-36 win over the Hopkinsville Lady Tigers in the Grind Session at Calloway County High School.

Lyon County limited the Lady Tigers to just three field goals in the first quarter as they jumped out to a 17-8 lead.

The lead was still 9 points at the half with the Lady Lyons up 27-18.

Led by Piper Cotham and Jenna Coursey, Lyon County extended the lead to 44 to 28 after the third. Alicia Davis and TaRia Sharber helped keep the Lady Tigers in shouting distance during the first three quarters with 10 points each.

The Lyon County defense then locked down and held the Lady Tigers to just three field goals and a couple of free throws in the fourth as the Lady Lyons pulled away for the 28 point win.

Piper Cotham led the Lady Lyons with 22 points. Courtney Collins added a double-double with 15 points and 13 rebounds. Jenna Coursey finished with 12 points and 7 rebounds.

For Hopkinsville, TaRia Sharber and Alicia Davis scored 10 points each. Lee Lee Love added six points for the Lady Tigers.

Lyon County (2-1) is back in action Tuesday when they host Livingston Central in a 5th District contest. Hopkinsville (1-2) is on the road Saturday taking on Webster County.
