Through the first week of the 2024-2025 basketball season, the Lyon County Lyons have picked up where they left off last season. The defending state champions moved to 3-0 on the season with a 61-50 win over the Caverna Colonels Saturday night in the Grind Session at Calloway County High School.
The Lyons took a 21-17 lead after the first quarter and extended the lead just a little bit more at the end of each remaining quarter.
The Lyon County lead was 37-30 at the half and then 48-40 at the end of the third.
Bray Kirk and Cooper Collins led the Lyons with 14 points each. Nolan Coffman also hit double figures with 12.
The win was the second in the event for the Lyons. Lyon County picked up a 67-52 win over Christian County Thursday night at the CFSB Center.
It has been a good week in Calloway County for the Lyons. Lyon County began the season with an 80-62 win over Murray on the Tigers home court.
With the win, the Lyons have now won 19 straight games going back to last season’s run of 16 which capped off with the state championship.
Lyon County (3-0) plays its first home game of the season Tuesday night in a 5th District matchup against Livingston Central.
